support services at San Diego City College:
Student
ID Cards
Picture ID Cards are available in the Admissions office at any one of
our three college campuses -- City, Mesa, or Miramar. City College Admissions
Office is open until 7pm (you must arrive no later than 6:30) Monday -
Thursday and until 3:30pm on Fridays. You must bring another picture ID
with you (driver's license) to get your student ID card. ID cards are
needed when using college services, and are required as of Fall
2003. Plus, you'll get discounts around town!
Financial
Aid / Scholarships & Grants
Depending on your total family income and number of dependents, you may
qualify for Financial Aid. Go to the Financial Aid office (room A-113,
619-388-3501) to talk with a FA counselor and get the application forms
needed OR visit the
San Diego City Transfer Center link to search for scholarship money
and financial aid applications. To keep your financial aid you must fill
out a new 'Free Application for Student Aid' every January for the next
school year (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
Each November, City College opens the application process for their campus-based
scholarships and grants. Go to Student Affairs Office D-106 for more information.
Tutoring Help
Math, History, Science and most other subjects! Sometimes all you need
is a couple of helpful sessions or somebody to check over your work. Keep
yourself on track and make the best grades! The City College Tutorial
Learning Center (in L building, room 214) also offers workshops to increase
your academic skills such as Memory Techniques, Test Taking Tips, Time

English/Writing Center
Located in C-226 will help you with your English skills, essay writing
and research papers. Call for open hours (619) 388-3633.
The
Math Center
Located in T-208, offers computer-aided and person-to-person help, no
matter what level of math you can do. Don't wait to get help if you're
not grasping the math needed in your trade! Call the Math Center for their
hours of operation 619/388-3583
Internet
Computers with internet access are available for your use in T-331, when
a class is not using this room, and in the Learning Resource Center (LRC)
.
Extended Opportunity Programs and Services
(EOPS)
For educationally and economically disadvantaged students who are enrolled
in 12 units of college classes. Special recruitment, retention and transition
services not available through regular college program. Room A-113, (619)

Transfer/Career Center
Are you on a career path that fits your personality and needs? Go to the
Career Center for really cool computer assisted career assessments and
excellent assistance in discovering "What's out there for me?"
The Center offers counseling and resources in making career choices, information
on 2 and 4 year technical programs, college catalogs, occupational handbooks,
student job listings, employment data and other topics. Room A-111, (619)
388-3722. Open Mon-Th 8-7 and Fri 8-3:30.
Health Services
Nursing, medical and health education services, mental health counseling,
referrals to community resources. Room A-116, (619) 388-3450. There may
be a fee for some services.
Disabled Students Programs and Services
Counseling, accommodations, assistance for students with academic and
vocational goals who have physical or learning disabilities. Room A-115,
(619) 388-3513. Learn how to learn more effectively!
Independent Learning Center
Computer-assisted learning programs, video and audio tapes to assist with
and enrich classroom experience; word processing equipment for course
assignments; facility for completing individual instruction courses. LRC,
1st floor, (619) 388-3535.
Child
Development Center
Education/Care program for children 6 months - 5 years, while parents
attend day, evening, or Saturday classes. Child Development Centers are
available on all three campuses. City campus: (619) 388-3205.
New Horizons
Primarily for single parents and displaced homemakers. Workshops on a
variety of topics (study skills, money/time management, goal setting,
writing, job search). Assistance for women and men entering non-traditional
careers. (619) 388-3424.
Summer Readiness
Eight-week summer program, four days a week, mainly for new high school
graduates. For first-time college students to develop and enhance college
survival skills; EOPS program. Apply by first week in May. Room A-113,
388-3242.
Aspire/Trio Program
Program for students transferring to 4 year colleges, serves low income,
first generation college and/or students with disabilities. Room L-128,
388-3407.
